Travel Shopping

Shopping - Singapore

While it’s well known that you’re able to haggle or negotiate in many Asian shopping cities, it’s important to note that in Singapore’s department stores, the prices you see on the price tags are fixed. Smaller retailers, stall owners and vendors are more flexible with price negotiations.

Before buying anything, ask the vendor or store assistant if the price includes the 7% GST (goods and services tax). This can sometimes change your purchase price, so if you’re working on getting a bargain, consider the tax payable. If you spend more than $100 in a single receipt, you may be entitled to a refund when you leave Singapore by air.
