Best Time To Visit

Brazil is an ideal year-round destination, boasting a gorgeous tropical climate. Remember, Brazil is in the southern hemisphere, so when it's winter in the northern hemisphere, it's summer in Brazil.

This means Christmas is held in mid-summer and July is the middle of winter. Don't be fooled into thinking that Brazil has the same four distinct seasons though; there is only the rainy season through summer and the non-rainy season during the rest of the year.

The rainy season in summer tends to favor visitors with a shower that lasts an hour or so in the afternoon, although if you're heading towards the Amazon regions you could find the rainfall is significantly heavier.

When you're searching for the best Brazil travel deals, be sure to consider how the weather will affect your plans.

Festival Events

New Year's Eve in Copacabana coincides with the Festa de Iemanjá, which is a festival honoring the Brazilian Sea Goddess. Revelers send out candle-boat offerings to the Goddess into the sea, which creates a twinkling seascape of fairy lights that stretch off into the night. New Year's festivities also include spectacular fireworks that light up the skies over Copacabana. As with everything in Brazil, the festivities are punctuated by music and plenty of dancing.

Carnaval is the most recognized festival in Brazil and is held in usually February or March each year. No matter where you go, you can hear a samba beat somewhere and you can be sure there are plenty of people shaking it in time to the hypnotic music. Carnaval hosts a massive carnival parade that begins on a Sunday night and ends on Monday morning. Carnival is also notorious for the many and varied balls, including gala balls, singles balls, gay balls and everything else you can think of all around the Copacabana Palace and beach.
